San Pietro
2 bedroom/2 bath townhouse conceived by renowned Italian designer, Illaria Miani. From $7,600 per week
Tuscany-Southeast/Val D'Orcia Villa 4
The Monteverdi Estate sits high on a hill close to some of the Val d'Orcia's most fascinating towns and villages such as Pienza and Montepulciano, within easy reach of Siena and equidistant between Rome and Florence. It's an area that rivals Chianti for its wealth of exploring possibilities.
San Pietro is a townhouse in the hilltop village of Castiglioncello del Trinoro. From the village there are spoectacular views over one of the world's most impressive landscapes, the Val d'Orcia.
World-famous wine estates such as the Brunellos are here and others such as Tenuta di Trinoro are right on the doorstep. This isn't the manicured farmland of Chianti, the skies seem bigger and the landscape is bold and dramatically beautiful. San Pietro is one of the charming villas set within the Monteverdi estate offering the best of both worlds: peace and tranquility as well as the convenience of the estate facilities.
Set over two floors, San Pietro is wired for sound and vision with Wi-Fi and flat screen TV. There are 2 beautifully designed bedrooms with the privacy of being on separate floors, with extremely comfortable matresses, beamed ceilings, wooden floors and grand scale bathrooms with rain shower. The property has its own 1,000 bottle wine cellar with table and chairs for intimate dining experiences. Upstairs the ultra modern kitchen is equipped well enough for the most technical of chefs to weave their magic. This flows into the living room, a lovely relaxing space with handcrafted bookshelves filled with plenty of books. San Pietro's interiors have been created by famous Italian designer Ilaria Miani. Old beams, natural wood and local stone combine with contemporary four poster beds, angle-poise lamps, beautiful colours and fabrics.
In summer the Estate invites scholars and artists and puts on exhibitions, concerts and operas in the local church of Santa Andrea and its little piazza. Guests eat al fresco, are invited to enjoy the festivities, chat to the artists from all over the world, or keep to themselves. Guests have the support of Monteverdi's excellent concierge, daily breakfast is included and the estates private chef is available to cook meals, or you can dine at the estate's renowned little café.
Food and wine at Monteverdi are an important part of the experience. The Estate has its own Executive Chef, Paolo Colucci, who's philosophy is to use the finest of fresh local ingredients and pair them to perfection to create true Tuscan cooking. One of Paolo's signature dishes is a lavender risotto where the lavender is harvested literally seconds before its introduction to the dish. Monteverdi's private wine cellars include many highly sought after local appelations from elegant Brunellos to sweet Vin Santos.
